You have built more than you realize. Your clients. Your contracts. Your content. Your brand. Your website. The intellectual property and digital assets holding it all together. Most small business owners are too busy creating and serving clients to stop and properly track and protect what they have built - and that costs them time, money, control, and opportunity.
Paid, Protected & Profitable™ is the practical legal guide and workbook that fixes that. Drawing on more than 30 years advising clients ranging from Fortune 25 institutions to first-time founders, attorney Sharon L. Tasman delivers a structured, accessible roadmap to building the legal foundations every service-based business needs to grow with confidence.
What's Inside
Paid, Protected & Profitable walks small business owners through a complete legal foundation, including:
✓ Building a strong business foundation - LLC formation, structure, and the legal compliance scan most founders skip
✓ Tracking your devices, accounts, and digital footprint - taking inventory of the assets you didn't realize were business-critical
✓ Conducting a practical IP audit - identifying what you actually own and what's slipping through the cracks
✓ Understanding copyright, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets - in plain English, with practical applications
✓ Protecting your work with client and coaching contracts that actually work for you - including the contract traps that cost service providers thousands
✓ Securing your website with the right policies - privacy, terms of service, disclaimers, and how to avoid common compliance mistakes
✓ Working with independent contractors and protecting what they create for you - because what you paid for isn't automatically yours
✓ Spotting ownership and confidentiality risks - before they become expensive problems
✓ Uncovering ways to protect and monetize what you have built - turning legal foundations into real business value
Whether you are getting organized for the first time or getting strategic about assets you have had for years, this book gives you the practical roadmap and worksheets to take the next step.

Why I’ve Written This Book
I've spent over 30 years in law. At one of the world's largest firms, in-house at a global biotech company, and now running my own boutique practice. Along the way, I've negotiated more than $6 billion in deals and advised everyone from Fortune 25 institutions to first-time founders.
But here's what I've learned. Most business owners have no idea how much they actually own. Content. Brands. Systems. Years of real work. Sitting there unprotected because no one ever taught them how to see it, protect it, or turn it into income. Contracts entered without knowing what they really mean. Not sure how to make their websites compliant. Not getting paid what they are worth.
That's what this book is about.
It's part legal. Part business. Part workbook. All practical.
If you've built something of your own, I wrote this for you.
